Licences

Paperwright is built on open-source work. These are the parts it runs on its servers or in your browser, who made them, and the licence each is used under.

citeproc-js

Paperwright uses citeproc-js, unmodified, under the Common Public Attribution License Version 1.0 (CPAL-1.0), elected from its dual licence. The Source Code version of the Covered Code is available under the terms of that licence: version 2.4.63, as published on npm, at registry.npmjs.org/citeproc/-/citeproc-2.4.63.tgz, and its project at github.com/Juris-M/citeproc-js. The licence's text is at opensource.org/license/cpal-1-0.

Citation styles

The citation styles and locales come from the Citation Style Language project's repositories and are licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0; each file keeps its authors and licence.

Reporting guidelines

The CONSORT 2025 checklist (Hopewell et al., BMJ 2025;388:e081123) and the PRISMA 2020 checklists (Page et al., BMJ 2021;372:n71) are quoted unchanged under CC BY 4.0. Their authors don't endorse Paperwright.

Fonts

Figures are set in Liberation Sans, whose metrics match Arial's, so a figure measures the same wherever it is opened. It is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, as are Inter and Newsreader.

Colours

Charts use the colour-blind-safe palette of Masataka Okabe and Kei Ito, Color Universal Design.
